Active Networking at The Hatchery

October 01, 2007 Filed under: Business

I've just received this note (below) from my friend Yao-Hui Huang of GigaPixel Creative and The Hatchery. I like this form of networking because it's about active match-making. Networking can feel really cheesy sometimes, but as anyone can tell who has used LinkedIn for all it's worth, connecting with people who work in complementary fields is a must to be successful, and much can get done in a short amount of time if its well targeted (funny, that sounds just like the new advertising models I was talking about yesterday). Anyway, here's the note from Yao:

----

I've spent a lot of time networking at different events and wanted to create an environment that would make it easy for people to find the professionals they need to meet and help grow their business with.

I call it ACTIVE NETWORKING. We do this by having sentinel members of the Hatchery team formally introduce you to exactly who you need to meet (since we know who is in the room already). The other half is scheduled appointments with a very specific business professional.

We have taken feedback from everyone regarding events and what you are looking for. We are eager to learn more to help you.

- The event will start at 6:30pm with a kick off and instructions about how it all works. - There will be food and beverages served. - There will NOT be any speakers. - Meetings will be in a separate quiet area with privacy.

How do the appointments work? You schedule meetings in advance to meet with certain professionals to help you with your business. The meetings will be 5 minutes each. The space will be two floors. The meetings will be held downstairs and the general networking upstairs. Appointments are on a first come first serve basis.

Just as a reminder - the next Hatchery networking event is next Tuesday October 9 at 6:30pm

North Fork Bank 57 West 57th Street north east corner of 6th Avenue
