Five People / by Nate Westheimer

BOOK RECOMMENDATION"The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom (a Brandeis grad and author of "Tuesdays with Morrie")

Three and a half stars (out of five) I'd give "The Five People You Meet in Heaven." Three come because it's a great read, with a pretty original plot and at times a poetically insightful story; it gets an extra half star because it's the first book I've read cover to cover in two sittings in four years (yes, it was "Tuesdays with Morrie" (which I'd have given four and half stars).

The biggest treasure of the book is that it leaves you thinking about your loved ones' lives and then passings in a different light, bringing new meaning to the time they spent here on earth and bringing hope to what they might have found in their time after.

The book was a gift from my mother, who sent me "Tuesdays..." when I was here four years ago. That was my first knowledge of Brandeis (book by an alum, Morrie a former teacher of my Sociology Dept.). Inherently thoughtful, my mother sent me "The Five People..." on my now second trip here. Wonderful, she is.
