I think people involved in technical innovation should be, by default, progressive on social and economic issues. This does not mean that people should be “tax and spend” anything, but it does mean that you should believe that things can be done better if we invest smartly in possible solutions — and that standing around not doing anything isn’t any body’s roll, including government’s.
